Emergency Appeal For Syrian Refugees - UWT On The Ground

In May 2011, following uprisings in the Maghreb, protests broke out across Syria seeking change. The response has however been brutal and has led to a terrible situation for residents of the country

Allah's Messenger Salallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said, ‘How blessed is Al-Sham.’ The Companions Radiallahu ‘anhum asked, ‘Why is that?’ The Messenger Salalahu ‘alaihi wasallam replied, ‘I see the Angels of Allah spreading their wings over Al-Shaam.

Tens of thousands of Muslims have been killed. Thousands more are displaced or unaccounted for. The oppression being meted out is horrific. Even children are not being spared in the regime’s onslaught.

Ummah Welfare Trust is working inside the country, providing dry food rations to widowed and orphaned families. The charity is also working in Jordan, providing relief to refugee families fleeing the oppression.

Ummah Welfare Trust urges its donors to give generously for our brothers and sisters in the blessed land of Sham. As Muslims, the current situation obligates us to respond.
Visiting A Syrian Refugee Family In Az-Zarqaa, Jordan

Today we visited a Syrian refugee family in Az-Zarqaa, Jordan. Having managed to escape their home town of Dir'aa in Syria, they have ended up here in Az-Zarqaa where although they are now safe from the violence in Syria, their worries are far from over. Without an income and relying mostly on handouts, 31 members of a family live in just 3 rooms.

Above: Alhamdulillah this family are registered at one of the local aid distribution centres where Ummah Welfare Trust are distributing aid. Through your kind and generous donations, they have received a food package to ease their worries for the next few weeks inshaa-Allah. They will then receive regular UWT food packages as well as other aid items inshaaAllah until they can stand on their own feet.

Above: My colleague & UWT Projects Manager, Shoyeb Adat was also moved seeing the conditions in which our brothers and sisters were living in.

Above: Having inspected their home, I had found them to be living in extremely poor conditions.

Visiting A Syrian Refugee Camp In Jordan

Today we visited a beneficiary family at a refugee camp in Jordan. Orginally from Aleppo in Syria, they managed to flee from the violence there but their worries are not over. Now they face an uphill struggle trying to afford the basics in life including food and clean water having left everything behind.
